Location: Toronto, Waterloo, Montreal, or Vancouver - Hybrid 

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst reporting to a Manager on the Modelling & Pricing Analytics team, you will be responsible for developing advanced predictive models and supporting other analytics initiatives. Working closely with analytics colleagues, regional pricing teams and other business stakeholders. In this role, you will have exposure to both the theoretical and practical aspects of predictive modelling.

What can you expect in this role?

  • Develop predictive models for the personal insurance department to support our corporate objectives
  • Measure, track and monitor model performance to ensure continuous delivery of high value insights
  • Effectively plan and manage analytics projects, leading team members through technical work.
  • Support our various stakeholders in their use, understanding and implementation of our models
  • Act as a mentor and coach junior members of the team to grow talent
  • Translate insights derived from complex analysis into accessible take-aways for non-technical audiences
  • Drive innovation and process improvement to promote leading practices and efficiency across the organization

What do you bring to the role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative field
  • Must have at least 3 to 5 years of relevant full-time experience
  • Actuarial exams or designation (an asset)
  • Deep understanding of machine learning techniques such as GLM, GAM, XGBoost, Neural Networks, k-NN and SVM, etc
  • Experience in end-to-end modelling projects starting with scoping, development, evaluation, and deployment
  • Proficiency in Python/R and SQL
  • Solid knowledge of P&C pricing concepts such as: classification changes, rate indication, pricing algorithms and how they interact with predictive models
  • Knowledge of Git for version control and collaboration (an asset)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems, both in a team and independently
