What can you expect in this role?

  • Establish, manage, and coach a high performing team focused on connecting claims analytics to current and future business unit profitability.
  • Main point of contact for Personal/Commercial Insurance teams and Planning/Corporate Actuarial teams for key trends and insights on claims frequency, severity, and performance
  • Identify emerging trends in Claims and present findings to executive teams
  • Delivery and analytical support for relevant Claims KPI’s to support downstream risk assessment and evaluate claims performance
  • Prepare claims frequency forecasts by utilizing relevant claims trends, third party data sources and reflecting expected policy growth and changes in underlying risk/coverage, while incorporating key stakeholder feedback
  • Facilitate the development of claims specific frequency and severity targets for business plans
  • Proactively perform comprehensive reviews and collaborate with business units to understand anomalous frequency/severity trends
  • Prepare quarterly inflationary trends and expectations analysis for physical damage lines of business.
  • Facilitate and support partner data groups usage of claims data mart (“CDM”). Support definitional needs to guide proper use of data elements. Identify new data requirements and facilitate feasibility review and prioritization to create and ingest into CDM

 

What do you bring to the role?

  • University Degree (major Math, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences)
  • 10 years P&C insurance (heavy focus on underwriting or actuarial)
  • Actuarial Science designation required
  • Statistical Data modelling, Cause and Effect Analysis, Insurance Product Expertise
  • Superior communication and leadership skills (both direct and indirect). Highly organized and can manage multiple competing deadlines and projects
