What can you expect in this role?

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Underwriting, Commercial Automobile, this position provides an opportunity to use your well-developed Fleet & Garage commercial automobile underwriting and analytical skills to effectively provide guidance in the development of branch underwriting decisions, corporate underwriting philosophies and contribute to a portfolio of commercial accounts across the organization. Internally, we call this position as Corporate Underwriting, Sr. Analyst. This position is national in scope and encompasses all provinces in which commercial insurance is written on behalf of the company.

• Provide consultative product direction and support
• Engage in underwriting decision making to assist the Divisions/Regions in risks that are outside of prescribed authority (underwriting referrals)
• Provide underwriting portfolio analysis on line of business performance
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to supply product and underwriting guidance and interpretation
• Development and implementation of underwriting guidelines relative to product and underwriting of Fleet and Garage
• Liaison with both internal and external stakeholders
• Actively participate in ad hoc projects by providing subject matter expertise

What do you bring to the role?

• University degree or a college diploma
• Must have CIP designation and nice to have - FCIP and CRM
• Minimum of 5 years commercial automobile fleet and garage underwriting experience at a senior level including underwriting of transportation and logistics operations
• Strong understanding of commercial automobile products and underwriting systems
• Ability to interpret and apply provincial automobile insurance regulations
• Excellent analytical skills
• Team player adaptable to a changing environment.
• Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions.
• Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
