Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence, the Data Visualization Specialist will work with like-minded professionals and our business partners to generate strategic insights in smarter and innovative ways. They will be responsible for reporting and dashboarding – including design, analysis, and insight generation – along with effective stakeholder management.

Role Location: Hybrid (Toronto, Waterloo, Vancouver, Montreal) – expectation of 20-40% of time in office

The internal title of this position is Intermediate Business Intelligence Professional. 

What can you expect in this role?

• Collaborate with internal business teams to understand their business problems and brainstorm meaningful & creative solutions.
• Design, develop and deliver reports, dashboards, and data insights that provide value to our business partners.
• Maintain and support existing reports, dashboards and other processes owned by the team.
• Implement BI leading practices throughout the project lifecycle.

What do you bring to this role?

• University or College degree in Computer Science, Business, Statistics, or a related discipline
• Analytical capabilities to generate insights & present effective data-driven business recommendations to various stakeholders.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a business intelligence role, with P&C insurance industry experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience using a data exploration & analysis tool, such as SQL or R.
• Experience using big data databases – like Impala or Hive – with Cloud experience preferred
• Hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards through a data visualization tool (e.g., Tableau)
• Execution of agile-based project management methodologies and mindset
• “Can-do” attitude and analytical abilities to generate insights & present effective data-driven business recommendations to various stakeholder group
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to connect with peers and business partners alike
