Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst (SFA), Finance is responsible for providing key internal and external stakeholders with business performance insights and financial analysis of the rapidly growing National Broker Platform. 

The analytical and planning support provided by this role enables senior leaders to track financial and KPI performance against targets. Articulating and effectively communicating business performance insights and plans with senior leadership is a critical part of the role.  Another key aspect of the role is coordinating across the organization to ensure performance reporting & planning are enabled for new acquisitions in the distribution channel.

As a secondary focus, the SFA will assist in the planning and execution of carrier M&A integration.

What can you expect in this role?

  • Analyzing monthly/quarterly actuals to plan/forecast. Identifying the key business performance drivers, reasons for any variances and presenting conclusions
  • Preparing timely and accurate divisional business performance reporting for both internal (Board of Directors, senior management) and external (broker senior management, investors, regulators and auditors) stakeholders
  • Engaging on acquisitions from pre-announcement and through integration for financial reporting, synergy tracking
  • Supporting business leadership in the preparation of annual financial plan and quarterly forecast for the National Broker Platform
  • Reviewing existing processes, systems, data and reporting to make recommendations for key improvements and lead the change initiative
  • Preparing ad-hoc analysis and reports on a timely manner to all queries from stakeholders, as required
  • Assess and map existing FP&A processes, systems, and reporting structures from multiple entities
  • Collaborate closely with internal finance, accounting, IT, and operational teams to define integration strategies for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting cycles

What do you bring to the role?

  • University degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Math/Statistics or related program
  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA), or in late stages of completion
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in financial reporting and business performance analysis
  • Knowledge and experience with P&C insurance would be an asset
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint knowledge is required
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud EPM or Hyperion applications an asset
  • Superior written and verbal communication/presentation skills and ability to interact with senior executives and other cross divisional leaders in the organization
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in achieving organizational goals
