Sr. Specialist, Design & Content 

The Senior Specialist, Design & Content serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in digital and web design, responsible for independently managing and executing complex, cross-functional design initiatives across Petline’s digital platforms. This role plays a strategic support function in shaping engaging digital experiences and collaborating closely with business development, operations, and marketing teams. With strong technical knowledge and a deep understanding of digital best practices, the Senior Specialist executes and oversees the creation of compelling, on-brand product designs and marketing collateral, ensuring consistency across all customer touchpoints in various different creative executions.  

Reporting to the Manager, Brand and Design, the Senior Specialist, Design & Content brings advanced design expertise and confidently presents and facilitates design solutions to influence stakeholders and drive brand alignment. This is a highly collaborative and creative opportunity for a digital design expert with a passion for innovation, brand storytelling, and delivering high-impact visual experiences. 

What can you expect in this role? 

  • Support the Petline cross-functional teams with end-to-end design execution for web, UX/UI, and digital marketing assets (including ads, email campaigns, social media, video, and landing pages), with occasional contributions to print design. 
  • Apply a user-centered design approach to ensure all web assets and experiences prioritize clarity, usability, and accessibility across all devices and platforms.  
  • Collaborate closely with developers to translate UX designs into functional, responsive web interfaces that meet both user needs and technical requirements.  
  • Use research, data, and user behavior insights to inform design decisions and continuously optimize the user journey across web properties.  
  • Advocate for UX best practices to create cohesive web experiences that are user-centered and conversion-driven.  
  • Leverage foundational knowledge of HTML and CSS to collaborate effectively with developers, troubleshoot minor layout issues, and ensure designs are implemented accurately across web platforms. 
  • Ensure all assets are optimized for performance across devices and browsers.  
  • Apply brand guidelines consistently while exploring new ways to evolve and enhance the visual language across digital touchpoints.  
  • Manage design tasks and priorities in Jira, effectively navigating tight deadlines and shifting project requirements while maintaining high-quality output and clear communication with cross-functional teams. 
  • Have an open mind to constructive feedback to refine designs and enhance usability.  
  • Maintain a deep understanding of web standards, accessibility, and design trends.  
  • Partner cross-functionally with content writers and channel leads along with other teams across the enterprise, to deliver projects on time and with high quality. 
  • Stay curious and up to date with the latest in design tools, UX research, and web technologies. 
  • Think strategically and tie deliverables to business goals. 

 

What do you bring to the role? 

  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, web design, or a related field.  
  • 6+ years of professional experience in digital design, with a strong portfolio showcasing web-focused projects. 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD), Figma, Canva and similar design tools.  
  • A solid understanding of UX principles, responsive design, and digital accessibility.  
  • Experience designing for CMS-driven websites and collaborating with web developers.  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  
  • Technically inclined with a comfort level working in digital environments and interpreting performance data.  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a collaborative mindset.  
  • Naturally curious, eager to explore new ideas, tools, and approaches to problem-solving. 
  • You’re customer-focused and love working with a team with a desire to learn, grow and expand your skills. 
  • Foundational knowledge of HTML - Asset
  • Insurance industry knowledge and experience is an asset. 

 

 

High degree of proficiency with English required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada. 

 

Salary Range: $69,000 - $127,000

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.  In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
