What can you expect in this role?

  • Assist with the preparation of the annual ESG Report, Public Accountability Statement and other sustainability-related disclosures in alignment with reporting frameworks and standards such as CSDS, ISSB, SASB, CDP, and S&P
  • Coordinate processes related to sustainability and climate disclosure, including:
    • Collection and quality control of quantitative and qualitative sustainability and climate-related data for Definity’s sustainability reporting suite 
    • Support the development, alignment, and tracking of sustainability metrics including the greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
    • Continuous management and implementation of sustainability reporting software
    • Ensure strong disclosure procedures and controls to satisfy regulatory reporting requirements, audit and third-party assurance processes
  • Support the third-party assurance process from start to finish, review and address findings with impact areas. Update and maintain reporting processes for future assurance engagements. 
     
  • Stay ahead of ESG disclosures by frequently monitoring current and emerging sustainability and climate trends, reporting frameworks and standards (e.g. ISSB/CSSB, OSFI, and related regulatory disclosure requirements), identifying changes and areas of opportunity for Definity’s reporting 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders across lines of business to enhance awareness of relevant regulatory requirements and sustainability disclosure trend
  • Support the coordination of stakeholder engagement to develop responses to sustainability surveys from raters and rankers (e.g. S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment, Sustainalytics, MSCI, ISS)
  • Routinely benchmark Definity Financial Corporation relative to our industry competitors on sustainability performance

What do you bring to this role?

  • You have a post-secondary degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or sustainability
  • You have at least 3-5 years of related professional experience in the financial services or audit industry and/or a publicly-listed company
  • You have experience with audit & compliance
  • You have an interest in Canadian and global sustainability reporting and investment trends, regulatory developments, new standards and initiatives
  • You have proven record of effective project management 
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting standards (e.g. ISSB, IFRS, CSDS) and frameworks (e.g., CDP and S&P)
  • Knowledge of raters and rankers (e.g. ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics and others)
  • Experience managing and quantifying GHG data (Scope 1, 2 and 3) using GHG Protocol requirements
  • You bring a positive, joyful attitude to your work and like to have fun

Salary Range: $58,100 - $106,900
