Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Reinsurance, this Senior Analyst, Reinsurance Placement position is a key member of the reinsurance team. This position provides an opportunity to play an important role in the placement of the reinsurance programs that support our corporate strategy, as well as to work collaboratively across different teams including personal, commercial, claims, actuarial, finance and external reinsurance brokers and reinsurers.

What can you expect in this role?

  • Support the annual end-to-end reinsurance placement including preparation of underwriting submissions, presentation materials, and reinsurance / reinsurer strategies
  • Develop marketing and background materials for reinsurer engagements 
  • Analyze and reconcile data compared to prior submissions and review and analyze wording changes with legal and reinsurance teams
  • Support post-renewal workflow including maintenance of reinsurance placement data / documents
  • Assist in the quarterly reinsurance forecast as part of corporate business plan process
  • Lead the delivery of reinsurance analysis including P&L performance, counterparty monitoring, catastrophes and large losses, and other ad hoc analysis
  • Support the reinsurance accounting and finance team on month end activities, as required
  • Create strong links with various internal and external business units in order to deliver on responsibilities
  • Deep dive into processes to continually identify improvements and efficiencies to improve productivity
  • Self-review work performed for reasonability, accuracy and completeness and act as a mentor to other individuals on the team

 What do you bring to the role?

  • University or college degree in business, finance, or related program
  • An accounting, actuarial, or insurance designation, or working towards such a designation
  • 3+ years’ experience in financial and analytical roles in the insurance and / or reinsurance industry including insurers, brokers, and / or reinsurers
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent attention to detail and refined analytical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to operational excellence
  • Flexibility to deal with time sensitive ad hoc requests as they arise
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with external parties or co-workers

Salary range: $55,800 - $102,800
