The Director, Quality Engineering (QE) will drive QE vision, strategy, and delivery across Personal Insurance & Platform Engineering teams. You will enable engineering teams to build high quality software and meet business objectives through innovation, leveraging AI, and best in class engineering practices.
You will lead a team of QE Managers, Leads and Specialists across multiple initiatives, and work closely with Cloud engineering, application engineering team and product owners to collaborate on best practices, supporting agile delivery.
- Contribute to and drive implementation of enterprise QE strategy leveraging automation, increasing team throughput on concurrent projects in a highly fast-paced environment, and ensure testing resources are compliant with the enterprise standards.
- Deliver on all approved projects / programs and drive activities related to QE.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Develop, coach, and manage the performance of all direct repots, ensuring achievement of business, functional and individual goals.
- Identify, implement and communicate relevant metrics to gauge the effectiveness of test efforts and coverage, providing clear visibility and understanding of the current state of product quality.
- Budgeting and planning for QE function, vendor contract negotiations and governance etc.
- Understand industry trends and innovations in QE function including usage of AI, and influence the technology strategy to implement these to deliver desired business outcomes.
- Partner with the business and technology teams to ensure alignment, deliver on QE and vendor contracted deliverables.
The Director will be familiar with Agile practices as it pertains to the QA world, and work closely with Dev/Ops and development teams to collaborate on best practices supporting agile disciplines such as Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment approaches.
What do you bring to the role?
- University degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline
- 15+ years’ experience in software development environment
- 5-10 years’ experience in QE leadership, managing large initiatives with geographically distributed teams.
- Past experience in insurance domain and hands on with Guidewire is preferred.
- Experience with the various aspects of QE including Functional and Non-Functional Testing that includes Test Automation, Performance, Big Data, Test Data Management, BDD/TDD etc.
- Experience implementing automation strategies using Tosca, Selenium, API automation etc. in DevOps and Cloud environment.
- Experience with Atlassian toolset including JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket
- Deep understanding of SAFe/Agile principles
- Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to build and maintain effective relationships with business partners, vendors, and technology teams.
- Proven track record to deliver continuous improvements with measurable results.
- Experience with prior people management responsibilities including career development, goal setting and performance management
Salary range: $111,300 - $205,500
