As a member of the Claims Senior Management team, you will maintain contacts in the insurance industry and government bodies.  The incumbent will work together with direct reports to liaison with the broker force to monitor customer service concerns and identify needs of the brokers.  This position is responsible to co-lead the major renewal efforts in terms of continuing the transformation of the claims organization. The Director will bring new ideas for process and organizational development while driving continuous improvements in day-to-day operations. The position will also partner with the VP Claims Transformation to focus on the customer experience at the appropriate cost. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support the ongoing development of claims strategic initiatives lead by the VP, Claims, Auto  
  • Lead the development of the Quebec operational plans to maximize efficiency and customer experience.   
  • Develop Quebec claims strategies and action plans to support corporate goals   
  • Ensure accurate and complete budgets are prepared including appropriate monitoring controls within the line  
  • Ensure consistent management of corporate claim policies and procedures are implemented along with monitoring controls.  This will include compliance to corporate developed vendor program 
  • Responsible for the implementation of vendor programs in Quebec  

 LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership, coaching and performance management to direct reports 
  • Responsible for coaching their managers and teams on hiring, setting and managing performance expectations, attendance and leaves of absence; coaching, providing feedback and recognition and developing others to reach their fullest potential

IDEAL EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum of 10 years claims experience including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role with performance management experience
  • Experience leading Auto or Property functions. Experience in multi-line is an asset and preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience, 3 leading manager level employees who have teams reporting to them
  • Strong analytical abilities and strategic acumen
  • Ability to see the bigger picture (macro level thinking) 
  • Solid leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, mentor, motivate and retain staff.   
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal. Excellent attention to detail.  Highly motivated and works independently in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and prioritize accountabilities to meet deadlines

EDUCATION & LANGUAGES

  • Fluent bilingualism in French and English is required
  • University degree in any discipline or a two-year diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college in a relevant field of study
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) is an asset 
  • AMF license is a strong asset
  • High degree of proficiency with English required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada. 

Salary Range: $97,000 - $178,800

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.  In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
