What can you expect in this role?

Reporting to the Manager, Planning & Forecasting - Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst (“SFA”) is responsible for executing the organization-wide annual planning and quarterly forecasting process and providing operational business partners and head office departments with value-added information and analysis to assist in their decision-making process. The SFA will be a key contributor in delivering accurate financial information, including:

  • Preparing analysis, executive presentations, and Board level materials to support the quarterly forecasting and annual budget reviews and approvals
  • Partnering with internal business teams to provide support in the preparation of their bottoms up budgets and forecasts within the system.
  • Providing finance support for ad-hoc requests, regular reporting, financial analysis, and smaller scale projects
  • Conducting ongoing budget to actual variance analysis to identify and understand key trends
  • Self-review and peer work performed for reasonability, completeness, and accuracy 
  • Work to continuously enhance current processes and reporting in terms of accuracy and efficiency

What do you bring to the role?

You consistently provide a high level of service, information quality and responsiveness in a professional, courteous manner. You have a strong work ethic and commitment to operational excellence. This individual should have excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team or independently with minimal supervision.

  • Completed university or college degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analyst role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization including senior executives
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter who can identify opportunities for improvement and execute on them
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet firm deadlines
  • Experience with Oracle Hyperion / Essbase reporting tools considered an asset
  • P&C Insurance experience considered an asset

Salary range: $55,800 - $102,800

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.  In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
