Senior Analyst - Financial Planning & Analysis
Reporting to the Manager, PI Operational Planning & Analysis, this person will be responsible for providing key internal stakeholders with value-added, business performance insights and financial analysis to assist in their decision-making process for managing the day-to-day and long-term business needs of the Personal Insurance business lines. The analytical support provided by this role enables Senior Leaders within Personal Insurance to understand the impact of their decisions. Articulating and effectively communicating business performance insights and impacts to the business in written and presentation format is a critical part of the role. This role is responsible for identifying any potential problems or risk areas as well as opportunities that business stakeholder may need to be aware of and act on.
What can you expect in this role?
- Execute and Deliver KPIs and provide insights on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to key stakeholders
- Support the business in financial planning and forecasting though reports that facilitate the performance analysis of business targets.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and quarterly forecast models and analyzes actual and budgeted figures on an ongoing basis. Creates and maintains detailed budgeted templates.
- Review financial operating results to identify key trends, variances, and measure financial results against budget and forecasts.
- Preparing timely and accurate divisional business performance reporting for both internal (Board of Directors, senior management) and external (investors, regulators and auditors) stakeholders
- Identify process gaps and work with standard internal controls;
- Reconcile results with Financial Plans to ensure accuracy and consistency
What do you bring to the role?
- University degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Actuarial, Math/Statistics or related program
- 3-5 years of relevant, full-time experience financial management reporting and business performance analysis
- Superior written and verbal communication/presentation skills and ability to interact with senior executives and other cross divisional leaders in the organization
- Recognized accounting, insurance, or actuarial designation an asset
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and data modelling is required
- Experience with quantitative software applications including SQL would be an asset
- Experience with P&C insurance would be an asset
- Excellent PowerPoint knowledge is required.
Ability to work in a team or independently with moderate supervision
Salary range: $55,800 - $102,800
