What can you expect in this role?

  • Reporting to an Actuarial Manager, your responsibilities include contributions to projects and business operations using evolving actuarial models and innovative approaches. In this role, you will have exposure to actuarial development work in auto and property & liability lines under Personal and Commercial Insurance;
  • Develop and apply your experience with spreadsheets, databases, and statistical software to prepare and analyze data for actuarial analysis and other diverse business applications;
  • Learn to communicate actuarial concepts to others both verbally and in writing;
  • Respond to requests of internal and external stakeholders with support from more senior mentors;
  • Office locations in key Canadian metropolitan cities (e.g. GTA, Montreal, Vancouver, etc.);
  • Opportunities to rotate across 4 major analytical departments for returning co-op’s and full-time employees: Corporate Actuarial, Advanced Analytics, Personal Insurance Pricing, and Commercial Insurance Pricing, on both traditional and non-traditional actuarial roles.

What do you bring to the role?

  • University degree in actuarial sciences, mathematics, statistics degrees or other related disciplines;
  • Must have completed at least 1 exam from the Casualty Actuarial Society or the Society of Actuaries;
  • Must have excellent analytical, communication, and planning/organizational skills;
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. R, SAS, Python) and efficient use of Microsoft applications (e.g. Excel, VBA) is a strong asset;
  • Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry and/or experience is a strong asset;
  • Integrity, dedication, curiosity, eagerness to learn, autonomous, perseverance, quality of work, ability to collaborate and lead, adaptability to changes etc. are all positive traits we’re looking for in your potentials to grow your career here at Definity®

 

Salary Range: $48,700 - $89,800

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.  In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
