What can you expect in this role?

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst (“SFA”), is responsible for providing Petline - Finance customers with value-added information and analysis to assist in their decision-making process. This role will also work closely with, and under the supervision of the Specialist, Finance. The SFA will be a key contributor in delivering accurate monthly results, including:

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial accounting including the preparation of journal entries, bank, and account reconciliations
  • Self-review work performed for reasonability, completeness and accuracy; conduct variance analysis to explain changes, and identify key trends 
  • Prepare schedules and analysis to support financial statement reporting disclosures
  • Preparation of statutory filings including OSFI reporting requirements for Property and Casualty Insurance companies
  • Support the accounts payable function
  • Support the annual budget and quarterly forecast process 
  • Support external audits by providing interim and year end sample requests, respond to audit inquiries, and conduct process walk throughs 
  • Work to continuously enhance current processes and reports in terms of accuracy and efficiency
  • Support ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Mentor and train junior level analysts; act as a mentor for CPA students
  • Conform to the Company’s hybrid policy. Current hybrid environment requires two days per week in the Winnipeg office

What do you bring to this role?                                          

  • Completed university degree, preferably in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance
  • CPA designation (consideration given where designation is imminent)
  • 3-5 years of relevant Finance experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong MS Excel and analytical skills are required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Self-starter who can identify opportunities for improvement and execute on them
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet firm deadlines
  • Ability to analyze and understand the implications of business activities on the financial statements
  • Prior experience in financial services industries in general, and insurance specifically, would be an asset 

Salary Range is $59,400 - $118,100.
