Reporting to the Leader, National Casualty and Bodily Injury Claims, you have a track record of progressively challenging claims handling. You will be accountable for the investigation, negotiation and settlement of Senior Third Party Bodily Injury and Casualty claims. This includes Automobile, Homeowners, and Commercial third party claims. You are motivated by a challenge and strive to continually develop yourself and others. You actively support change and seek to improve. You have effectively managed a portfolio of Casualty and Bodily Injury claims of increasing complexity. You continually support the Team environment and raise your hand to assist others including mentoring junior team members. You have a desire to be part of a diverse, highly engaged and high-performance team.

What can you expect in this role?

  • Reporting to the Team Leader, Casualty, you are accountable for managing a portfolio of Senior Bodily Injury, Casualty, and General Liability Claims.
  • Engage all stakeholders in the effective management of a claim including underwriting and senior leadership
  • Confirming policy coverages, investigating claims to determine liability and quantum.  Maintaining detailed file records. 
  • Attending/participating in mediations, pre-trials and settlement initiatives.
  • Settle claims directly with claimants and with Plaintiff’s Counsel.  
  • Direct and Instruct Defence Counsel. 
  • Mentoring of  junior team members
  • Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions, whether with customer, co-workers or vendors
  • Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
  • Strive to continually push the boundaries of your adjusting experience and personal learnings
  • Team player adaptable to changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

What do you bring to the role?

  • University degree, a college diploma or the CIP designation
  • Minimum 3 years of claims handling experience in Bodily Injury/Casualty Litigation
  • Notable Commercial General Liability Claims handling experience, both Bodily Injury and Property damage.   
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers
  • Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
  • Team player adaptable to a changing environment
  • A passion for coaching and mentoring junior staff
  • You’re dependable with strong interpersonal skills
  • You have strong communication skills
  • You’re focused on building engagement and culture
  • Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
  • Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset
  • Licensed in multiple provinces is an asset or licensed in Atlantic

Salary range is $55,800 - $102,800
