The Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) Lead facilitates Cloud financial management through interaction with key stakeholders establishing practices and processes that enable cloud spend management. This role establishes cloud budgetary practices, cost controls, and reporting to enable key stakeholders to manage their cloud costs. This role established the financial management and cultural practices with key technology and business partners to maximize our cloud financial investments.
What can you expect in this role?
Cloud Economics Practice Development
- Establish the central standards, policies, and governance practices which enable key stakeholders to manage cloud finances.
- Ensure business and technology functions are adopting and adhering to leading cloud financial management practices.
- Drive the decisions and management of the Cloud FinOps working group ensuring continual improvement of cloud financial management.
- Work with Engineers, Developers, and Key Business leads from other teams to develop tools and practices that optimize the spend of cloud solutions.
Cloud Financial Reporting
- Develop and implement chargeback and show back methodologies for cloud services ensuring ROI on cloud spend and investments.
- Manage the cloud budget monitoring, reviews and reporting.
- Regularly evaluate cloud spend around applications, hardware, and software.
Program Support
- Collaborate in estimating delivery work necessary to realize a requirement through the development lifecycle.
- Support the development of the cloud strategy.
- Regularly evaluate cloud applications and cloud provider offerings Support project initiatives with work estimation and design decisions.
What do you bring to the role?
- Bachelor of science degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or relevant field.
- 5+ years combination of cloud design, technical implementation, and infrastructure architecture experience.
- Experience with application architectures, middleware, and technology platform architectures (cloud, on-premise, and hybrid).
- Experience with capacity forecasting, cloud cost optimization techniques, financial reporting, and workflow management.
- Professional level cloud certification preferred.
- Ability to develop effective reporting metrics to maintain strong control on usage and billing of cloud services.
- Cloud Platforms: AWS (Cost Explorer, CUDOS Dashboard), GCP (Cost Management, Looker)
- Technologies: JFrog Artifactory, Vault, Terraform, Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, ArgoCD
- Scripting and Programming Languages: Bash, Python, Node, Ruby, Go
- Container Platforms: Kubernetes, EKS, GKE, Anthos, Docker"
- Understanding of cloud providers, platforms and configurations and familiarity with workload usage/consumption patterns on cloud.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written)
Salary range: $77,700 - $157,000
