Your Responsibilities:  

Technical Leadership 

  • Hands on experience in Design, develop, configure and unit test functionalities in Guidewire PolicyCenter within an agile setting
  • Work with business subject matter experts and business analysts to design and develop an approach for the configuration, effort estimation and build of design documents
  • Experience in guiding the team members in enhancing their technical capabilities and solve problems creatively. 
  • Actively promoting and helping build understanding and capabilities around Economical's current SDLC methodology and standardized ITIL processes, and identifying and implementing continuous improvement of processes, standards and tools in your function 
  • Ensure that software designs and coding practices result in a high-quality product that follows Economical’s architectural principles and direction and meets both functional and non-functional requirements - Follow secure coding practices

Delivery Leadership

  • Lead and manage end-to-end technology solutions and services delivery for the Commercial Insurance technology portfolio. Ensures that projects are completed on time. 
  • Build strong working relationship with business product owners , project managers, architects , tech leads , delivery partners and IT leaders to meet business objectives and benefits
  • Build strong working relationships within the TS organization to ensure optimal performance and alignment with technology strategy, roadmaps and objectives
  • Establish and maintain practical governance practices and forums, ensuring that team impediments and blockers are resolved in a timely manner, while also keeping executive stakeholder informed
  • Provide supporting data / insight to TS Leaders and Portfolio Managers where necessary - Report into Executive leadership regularly to provide status updates

People Leadership

  • Responsible for leading members in delivery in managing day-to-day activities and performance objectives in alignment with TS goals and objective
  • Promoting and supporting an environment that encourages productivity, collaboration, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism; and resolving conflict amongst the team

What do you bring to the role? 

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, information Systems or a related discipline
  • At least 8 Years’ experience in Object Oriented Programming languages using JAVA technology
  • 5+ years of Guidewire development experience in PolicyCenter including a mix of configuration and integration work
  • Knowledge of common integration design patterns used by PolicyCenter, including the typical internal and external systems that are common (e.g., Claims, MVRs)
  • Formal Guidewire configuration and/or integration training preferred in PolicyCenter - Sound knowledge writing mapping rules and other business logic in GOSU. GW ACE Certification preferred.  
  • Experience in successfully delivering initiatives with matrix structured teams consisting of dedicated and shared resources
  • Additional development experience outside of Guidewire is an asset, especially with Java, Cloud technologies 
  • Experience in P&C insurance industry is considered an asset 
  • Proactively communicates information in a clear and positive manner. Layering excellent decision-making skills with a natural aptitude for observation
