Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manger with a strong background in Agile methodologies to join our EPMO team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion, using Agile principles and practices. You will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, budgets, and resources and ensuring that project goals are met with high quality.

The Project Manager will lead and manage the Rate Implementation scrum team, you will partner and provide leadership to the Pricing Management team and Product Owner to deliver high quality pricing changes to production.  They will be responsible for driving the successful execution and delivery of projects for the Personal Insurance line of business.

Reporting to the Director, EPMO this project manager will lead and execute both hybrid and agile program and project management practices and processes.

Major Responsibilities (How Will I Make an Impact?):

  • Define, project scope, goals, and deliverables that support the business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.
  • Manage the delivery and governance of projects which support and enhance IT solutions to agreed success factors and KPIs (time, cost, quality, scope, risk and budget).
  • Create & present status messaging to a variety of stakeholders including senior leaders and C-suite executives.
  • Ability to simplify technical complex processes into simple business language. 
  • Expert knowledge and experience with Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence, Microsoft Project)
  • Responsible for development of an Integrated Project/Sprint Plan and successful delivery of confirmed scope on time and on budget.
  • Collaborate with Technology Leads, Developers, QE Leads and DevOps to mitigate risks and develop solution options for issues, reporting back to Leaders. 
  • Management and understanding of project financials.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and change to support teams and ensure successful project and delivery of backlog items.
  • Facilitate daily standups, scrum of scrums, product owner synchronization, sprint planning, sprint review,  sprint refinements, sprint demos and sprint retrospectives.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog is well-maintained and prioritized for maximum delivery.
  • Participate in prioritization meetings & quarterly planning to understand pricing priorities and the tie back to business plan to effectively manage multiple streams of work at one time.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team, leveraging your understanding of software development lifecycle, practices and tools.
  • Ensure the development team is practicing the core Agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and visibility.
  • Identify and manage risks/issues, impediments and blockers by engaging the required team(s) to remove the blockers/impediments and manage the resolution of the same.   
  • Coach the team to focus on productivity and effective delivery with highest quality while adhering to Agile practices.   
  • Engage cross functional teams on interdependent stories, manage dependencies to remove obstacles and ensure successful delivery.
  • Report on teams’ velocity, capacity, blockers, and impediments. 
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems/issues are addressed in a timely & effective manner.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Liase with project stakeholders on an on-going basis.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget.
  • Promote continuous improvement practices within the team. Encourage experimentatinon and innovation to improve project outcomes.

Competencies (What you’ll bring to the role):

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or related field.
  • Certified Scrum Maser (CSM) or similar Agile certification required (Scaled Agile – SAFe certified).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) required.
  • Over 5 years of Project Management and Technical Delivery with an emphasis on governance, communication, risk management, financial management and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile methodologies, with a deep understanding of Agile principles, frameworks and tools.
  • Experience working in Property and Casualty Insurance industry for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams to achieve project goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence and effectively negotiate with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, prioritization and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools, methodologies and best practices.
  • Team oriented.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Prior technical background as a software developer or engineer is a plus.
  • Experienced with Guidewire Cloud platform (Policy Center, Billing Center & Claims Center) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Understands business needs and guide scrum team to deliver on appropriate epics and stories.
  • Experienced in working on Insurance programs with multiple delivery streams.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to relay complex technical concepts and solutions to business partners and stakeholders.
  • Experienced in working across Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid and other methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
