We are currently looking for a permanent full-time P&C insurance translator to join our Quebec translation services team (hybrid work). 

Reporting to the Manager, Translation Services, the translator will be accountable for translating primarily insurance-based documents, from English to French. They will also be responsible for adapting content in Canadian French, both linguistically and culturally, in alignment with brand and communication standards.

What can you expect in this role?

  • Translate P&C insurance documents (e.g., claims, commercial and personal insurance) in accordance with the established deadlines and quality standards.
  • Translate a variety of material (ex. corporate communications, Website and blog copy, social media posts, forms, reports, letters, policies, manuals, procedures, news releases and intranet content) maintaining the content, context, and style of the original material, and considering the audience.
  • Work closely with all members of the translation team, corporate communications specialists, marketing specialists, and business subject matter experts across the company.
  • Act as a linguistic counsellor and cultural advisor while also performing quality control checks (proofreading) to avoid any errors in the final product and ensure it meets communication and brand guidelines.
  • Review other documents translated by peers.
  • Conduct terminological research on a given subject or in response to inquiries for the preparation of terminological databases.
  • Make smart use of translation assistance, search and management tools. 

What do you bring to the role?

  • University degree in translation (English to French) High degree of proficiency with English required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a P&C insurance translator role 
  • Perfect command of French and excellent understanding of English  
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office environment (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and various translation work tools 
  • Ability to manage concurrent priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with and protect confidential information
  • Excellent communication skills, both with clients and colleagues
  • High degree of autonomy, rigor and efficiency, and impeccable attention to detail
  • Team player and sociability
  • OTTIAQ certification is an asset
