Reporting to the Manager, Performance Measurement, the Financial Analyst will provide financial planning and analysis support for our Personal and Commercial insurance lines of business. This financial reporting focused role provides opportunity to see the full financial picture of the company, partner cross functionally with other areas of the business, and leverage new technology to enhance our reporting and analysis capabilities. This role is also eligible for admission to Definity’s CPA pre-approved program, allowing the CPA candidate to acquire practical work experience and/or financial support as they work toward achieving their designation.
What can you expect in this role?
- Provide financial planning and analysis support for the Personal and Commercial lines of business, including assisting with monthly reporting and financial close processes.
- Prepare timely, accurate, and complete financial and non-financial information, analysis, and reporting for internal (i.e. board, executives, and business units) and external (i.e. regulators and auditors) stakeholders
- A chance to work with the new Oracle EPM Cloud suite, leveraging our recent investments in technology to enhance our reporting and analysis capabilities
What do you bring to the role?
- University degree in Accounting or Business or related program
- A CPA designation or enrolment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)
- 1-3 years of relevant Finance experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of VBA considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, ability to self-review work, and ability to manage competing deliverables
- Prior experience in management reporting and analysis considered an asset
- Knowledge and experience with insurance industry accounting considered an asset
- Experience with Oracle Hyperion planning, Oracle Essbase reporting tools considered an asset
