What can you expect in this role?

 The materials handler role also allocates all invoices coming from Accounts Payable for Canada Post and courier spend, ensuring accuracy in coding, processing the chargebacks for branch courier spend and then tracking all spend with these vendors and completing the monthly metrics for this providing to manager for budget reporting.  Others reporting to the manager administration include Mail clerks, switchboard operator, scanning operator and document delivery.

  • Preparing and packaging goods for internal delivery or outgoing shipments based on supply requests and receiving, inspecting, and signing for incoming shipments of goods while maintaining adequate inventory levels and processing updates to the inventory control management system. Ensuring the supply area is well organized, ensuring items are clearly labeled and obsolete materials are discarded appropriately
  • Verifying and accurately allocating postage and courier invoices for payment. Process chargebacks for branch courier broker filing
  • Tracking of all postage and courier spend by vendor completing with accuracy the monthly metrics and providing this to manager for budget
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate courier/carriers to meet the daily distribution requirements of the company and working directly with these vendors and escalating issues with missing deliveries when needed
  • Working with IT Assets, ensure delivery of resources for staff working remotely. This includes facilitating the collection of resources from remote locations at the end of employment as well
  • Ensuring efficient and cost effective handling of records through storage, retrieval and destruction processes. Updating the contact information, ensuring appropriate access is granted to appropriate individuals. Providing information, guidance and supplies to departments in regards to storage, retrieval and destruction. Processing bi-annual destruction process for documents eligible for destruction
  • Working along side Mail Services assisting with other duties as required to ensure daily deadlines are met

 

What do you bring to the role?

  • College diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Excel and MS Word
  • Working knowledge of courier and shipping requirements preferred
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast paced, team oriented environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail as accuracy with allocations and metrics tracking is required.
  • Strong prioritization/organizational skills to manage multiple daily deadlines
