We are seeking a Manager, ESG Reporting to support the ongoing development and implementation of our ESG disclosure and engagement strategy for Definity. You will be part of the ESG team that builds and executes social responsibility programs, sustainability initiatives, and corporate governance practices as part of a comprehensive ESG strategy. With your demonstrated passion and track record in ESG and sustainability, you will help guide business and functional leaders to reach our sustainability goals and commitments.

What can you expect from this role?

Reporting & Disclosure

  • Create and publish ESG and climate disclosures that highlight our progress and performance to meet and exceed our stakeholders’ expectations
  • Understand and align to various ESG reporting frameworks including SASB, TCFD, UN SDGs, and GRI, while monitoring the development and preparing for the implementation of other relevant disclosure standards
  • Support the development, alignment of sustainability metrics, and engage with businesses to measure and report on these metrics
  • Lead research to routinely benchmark Definity relative to our industry competitors on sustainability performance

Communication & Engagement

  • Support ongoing stakeholder engagement and materiality assessments
  • Work with functional and business leaders to identify, develop and implement opportunities to engage stakeholders in sustainability efforts
  • Work with Communications and Investor Relations to support the development and amplification of our ESG story with investors, analysts, and other key stakeholders

Strategy Development

  • Maintain a central repository for sustainability content, research, policies, position and action plans
  • Identify emerging sustainability trends by considering market opportunities, investor expectations and other stakeholder requirement
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support on ESG matters across the Company

 

What do you bring to this role?

  • At least 3 - 5 years of professional experience in ESG & sustainability (or similar area) in the financial services industry or at a publicly listed company
  • An undergraduate degree in business administration, sustainability, environmental sciences, or other relevant programs.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., SASB, TCFD, GRI, ISSB) and ESG ratings (e.g. Sustainalytics, MSCI, ISS)
  • Experience with data controls, audit and assurance
  • Knowledge of Canadian and global sustainability reporting and investing trends, regulatory developments, new standards and initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Passion for sustainability and social responsibility reflected in your work and personal experience
  • Ability to translate complex messages and recommendations into concise proposals, reports and presentations
  • High degree of personal ethics, integrity and responsibility with an ability to deal with sensitive issues and safeguard confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player who is adaptable to a changing environment
