The Senior Analyst is a business and IT facing resource responsible for developing Rating Algorithm and Rates into the system, testing them and coordinating implementation of the same to production.  The candidate validates Pricing requirements and understands impact of the requirement to the rating and underwriting system.  The incumbent has an active role in Guidewire system when the premium is impacted.  He or she is mainly responsible for any rate changes in the system.   The candidate also works on any project or enhancement that is impacting Premiums and on regular maintenance of rate structure such as regular rate deployments.  The candidate is subject matter expert on Rating structure.  The candidate is often consulted on resolving premium issues and troubleshoots and resolves any production defect arising from algorithm or rate changes.  The senior Analyst is a mentor to Junior team members teaching others how to develop/test, troubleshoot rate issues, how to focus on best practices and methodologies.  He or she actively collaborates with our Product team, Actuarial pricing team, TS delivery team, Dev-Ops and Product Owner.  Senior analyst is instrumental in providing improvements in testing, troubleshooting and rating solutions.

 

 

What can you expect in this role?

 

  • Understands business requirement when working on a Project or actuarial requirement when working on an isolated rate change.                  
  • Understands impact of the change to the Guidewire system and how system integrates with third party systems.    
  • Develops Rate books (Rate tables and algorithm) changes to the Guidewire system  
  • Collaborates with the Manager and project team following Agile methodology.  
  • Updates the Jira scrum board and informs of any risk/issues or blockers.  * Resolves any risk/issues to ensure successful implementation
  • Acts as an expert on different type of system changes and provides guidance to Junior team members.  
  • Able to handle the most complex projects/enhancement and rate changes with accuracy and success from start to finish  
  • Responsible to deliver working rating algorithm that integrates well with GW code *Understands rating from both business and system perspective.  
  • Acts as an expert on different types of Premium testing and as such handles most complex system testing issues and provides guidelines on what other team members should use.
  • responsible to test all rate book changes in the GW system.  This includes running automation where set of profiles are run and compared to expected results, as well as creating specific test cases to catch corner case scenarios.
  • Maintains automation system to ensure its functional for the use of all team members.
  • Ensures that testing processes are followed by Junior Members and documented by conducting regular Peer Reviews.  
  • Understands TS Change and Release management practices and keeps up to date to the changes of the same to ensure their team can adhere to them to successfully deploy to production.
  • When Rating changes are delivered during GW weekend release window, ensure that testing is being done on integrated GW code to ensure testing adequacy to minimize negative impact to production  
  • Supports Business Product team in Pre and Post production Validation.
  • As changes are deployed to production, provides production support for all rate book issues.  
  • Investigates production incidents and creates production defects, if fix is required.  
  • Develops, tests production fixes and implements them.

What do you bring to this role?

  • University Degree or college diploma in business, computer science, Statistics, information systems, or a related discipline
  • 2-3 years experience in delivering rate changes to production and supporting production
  • Certifications and Accreditations (Guidewire Development,  Guidewire business training, Scrum Master, CIP nice to have)
  • Experience in developing rate changes, running automated test suite and troubleshooting discrepancies in testing.  
  • Strong communication to effectively communicate and lead workshops across functional teams to both business and technology teams
  •  Solid understanding of the P&C industry, Economical Line of businesses, Rating Algorithm and Base Rates and Differential Files
